Turtle Vision by Goodbye-kitty975 Turtle Vision by Goodbye-kitty975
this turtle seemed almost surreal, swimming through the darkness of the reptile house at the Columbus Zoo. suspended in the eerily lit water. i loved it.

That really is cute. He seems to be looking at his foot and thinking, "Hey can I eat this?". Turtles are ALWAYS thinking about what next to put into their stomachs! I have 5 and 1 tortoise...they ate always begging for more food!

It's not an easy task to make any animal shot to look real good in B&W, just not in this case. Lovely composition, lighting, timing, just wonderful!

haha. yeah. i shot with a point and shoot for a LONG time b/c i couldn't afford a dSLR. granted, the new camera has helped me do things my old camera just COULDN'T, but i'm always preaching that the camera doesn't make the photographer, so comments like yours on my older works really make me happy.

...i really hope i'm not coming off as arrogant!

hehe the reptile house is my favorite place in the zoo (aside from the tigers and the red panda). I love this, that surreal feeling was captured perfectly. The b&w is the perfect compliment.

Wow - the lighting of the shot is awesome - very atmospheric. The markings on the head and neck are gorgeous..what breed is it, do you know? Is it the red-eared slider, as below? I know nothing of turtles, to be honest ^^; Great shot!

i actually don't know what kind of turtle it was. it didn't have the red "ears" on its head though so i don't think it was a slider.

Red Eared Slider! At least, I think... can't see the red, of course. But I had one, for a while- looked exactly like him.

There are two species that are really similar, I know... then again, it's been a while, and I think all aquatic turtles (that aren't sea turtles) have started to look alike to me. ;P
